            AskDrWalker.com is a result of the mass of misinformation, particularly in the health, wellness, and alternative medicine fields that my patients have been bringing into my clinic over the last year.  I have been researching those issues and have come to the conclusion that there are basically three types of web sites that are present on the World Wide Web.  The first type are the technical and research sites that may be helpful to trained physicians, but are confusing as to content, preliminary research data that may not be accurate.  The second is the “pseudo-medical” sites, which have good intent, but questionable medical use.  Finally, the third type of site is purely commercial.  They have little or no science behind their claims.  The vast amount information requires a “sorting of the wheat from the chaff.”  WWW.AskDrWalker.com, is designed to screen sites, link to useful, reliable sites, and to keep up in this wonder information age for both the professional and the layman.

           The Founder and President of AskDrWalker.com is Dr. Kent R. Walker, D.O., Osteopathic Physician and Surgeon, specializing in the areas of Family Practice, Sports Medicine, and Occupational Medicine.  He is in active private medical practice in Oregon.  Dr. Walker is an active and dynamic medical practitioner in Oregon who has received additional training in alternative medicine to include: herbs, homeopathic medicine, vitamin therapy, osteopathic manipulative medicine, occupational and preventive medicine, and professional sports medicine.  Dr. Walker graduated from the U. of Maryland with an A.A. degree, graduate of I.S.U. with a B.S. in Zoology and Mammalian Physiology.  He holds a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from UOMHS, College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, IA.  Dr. Walker is Board Certified in Family Practice and has completed Board Eligibility requirements for Sports Medicine and Occupational Medicine.  He has integrated this training into his practice of medicine since 1987.
